Christine Doby Cobb, 88, of Winston-Salem, passed away Friday, July 13, 2012 at Autumn Care of Statesville. She was born June 30, 1924 in Surry County to Walter Henry and Ollie Frances Parker Doby. Mrs. Cobb was a hard worker and was retired from Western Electric. She was an avid gardener and grew the best vegetables and loved her roses. She loved her grandchild and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack M. Cobb; three brothers, Dan, Garnet and Perry Doby; and two sisters, Carolyn Taylor and Dorothy Crowson. Surviving is one son, Melvin Linville and wife Gerry of Georgia; two stepsons, Jack and James Cobb also of Georgia; a grandson, John Linville and wife Kris of Mebane; three great grandchildren, Jane, Sarah and John Jr.; two sisters, Marie Elmore and Shirley Chapman; and a brother, J.D. Doby. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 16 at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, July 15 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
