Mr. Hubert Wade “Bud” Phelps, 83, passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born in Davie County on April 11, 1929 to Uriah “Hugh” Phelps and Irene Sheek Phelps. Mr. Phelps retired after 25 years as owner and operator of Bud’s Tile Service; a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean Conflict; and he was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed saltwater fishing and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, uncle and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth Stimpson Phelps; four brothers and two sisters. Surviving are a son, Bobby Gene Phelps of Midway; a sister, Gladys Gullet of Morganton along with several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Westlawn Gardens of Memory with Chaplain Rennie Adcock officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel and at other times at the home of James and Sue Phelps.
