Robert Elton Renfroe, 89, of Harrisonburg, VA, and formerly of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away Monday, July 23, 2012, at Sunnyside Retirement Community. He was born June 23, 1923, in Alabama and was the son of the late Marcus Howard and Martha (Mattie) Studdard Renfroe. He is survived by his wife, Edith Smith Renfroe, his sons Philip and Michael, and his daughter Ann Renfroe Gravett and their children and one great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his sister Opal Wallace, but preceded in death by brothers Erby, Orby, Chesley, Clarence, and sisters Hazel, Melba, and Ola Mae. Robert served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He drove for McLean Trucking Co. for 35 years. He was a member of VFW Post 1134 and AmVets. The family will receive friends Friday, July 27, 2012, from 6-8 pm at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, 3315 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC. A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 28, 2012, at 11 am at Westlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel, 6135 Ridgecrest Rd, Clemmons, NC.
