KERNERSVILLE – Milton Craig Smith, 58, died Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born August 13, 1954 in Forsyth Co. to Ruth Duggins Smith and the late Jay Van Smith, Jr.

Mr. Smith was a lifelong member of Friedland Moravian Church and a member of the Friedland Band. The beautiful sound that he made from his trumpet will be truly missed.

Craig loved serving God through mission work on the homeland and overseas. His heart was touched by the plight of some of the children he met in Africa.

Surviving are his wife, LuAnn Peddycord Smith of the home; son, Jason Craig Smith and wife, Angie and granddaughter, Allie of King; daughter, Tara Waite and husband, Bruce and grandchildren, Shane, Tyler and Oliva of Kernersville; two sisters, Sherry Troop and husband, Lee of Clemmons, Michelle Bernard and husband, Thomas of Milton; and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, August 19, 2012 at Friedland Moravian Church. Inurnment will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends following the inurnment in the church parlor.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to staff at Wake Forest Baptist Health Cancer Center and Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for all their loving care, and Cancer Services for all of their help.
