Obituaries

Miss Thelma Alice Whittington, 94, of Clemmons passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Regency Care of Clemmons. Miss Whittington was born in Wilkes County, NC on September 5, 1917 to Ebbie Thomas and Alice Richardson Whittington. She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II and a graduate of Draughons Business College. Miss Whittington retired from Travelers Insurance Company with over 30 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Ray, Parks, and Maurice Whittington; and a sister Elsie Meade. Miss Whittington is survived by two brothers, Roy Whittington of Winston-Salem and Dewey Whittington of Millers Creek, NC; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 pm Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Old Reddies River Primitive Baptist Church in Wilbar, NC. The family would like to send a special thanks to the staff of Regency Care of Clemmons and a special friend, Odessa Rhodes, for their loving care of Miss Whittington.
