Name: Odell Pegram, Jr. Dates: Birth date: May 6, 1940 Death date: June 23, 2012 Obituary: WINSTON SALEM - Mr. Odell Pegram, Jr., 72, went home to be with his heavenly Father Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Odell was born on May 6, 1940 in Stokes County to the late Odell and Annie Perdew Pegram. He proudly served in the US Army and retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Co. after 35 years of service. Odell was a faithful member of Gospel Light Baptist Church. He was a humble man, dedicated to his family and was a caring 'Daddy' and grandfather. In addition to his parents, Odell was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy Freeman, Ruby Latham and Annie 'Pat' Rhymes; and one brother, Floyd 'Bill' Pegram. Surviving are his two daughters, Cheryl Olivia Tyndall (Douglas) and Margot Chantelle Wallin (Nathan) all of Kernersville; two stepsons, Brian K. Wilson (Kris) of Greensboro and Brett McKee (Marie) of Raleigh; six grandchildren, Sydney, Jadon, Weston and Braxton Tyndall, Caroline and Ethan Wallin; six step grandchildren, Brian Michael and Sarah Wilson, and Gus, Marielle, Samantha and Steve McKee; three sisters, Zora Hemrick of Kernersville, Gracie Combs (Royden) of Rural Hall, Geneva Tucker (Joel) of Winston-Salem; three brothers, Richard Pegram (Linda) of Winston-Salem, Daniel Pegram of Belews Creek and Don Pegram (Diane) of Lexington; and several special nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm, Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Roberson and Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. Burial will follow at Belews Creek Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:30 PM prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Forsyth Medical Center -Palliative Care Unit, Oncology and Rehab - 4th Floor and also to the staff of Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for their loving care and kindness given to Odell. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the Pegram Family.
