Name: Herman Curtis Gunter Dates: Birth date: October 4, 1931 Death date: June 24, 2012 Obituary: Fuquay-Varina Mr. Herman Curtis Gunter age 80, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family Sunday, June 24, 2012. He was born October 4, 1931 in Wake County to Carlton and Hersie Smith Gunter. Curtis was an active member of Fuquay-Varina Baptist Church as long as his health permitted. He was a graduate of Fuquay- Springs High School and NC State University. He retired from the U.S. Geological Survey after 33 years of service. In addition to his parents he was preceded by a son, Ricky Knight Gunter and a brother, Darrell Gunter. Surviving are his wife, of 46 years Barbara Prince Gunter; a daughter, Genia Keen and husband, Kevin of Wilmington; two sons, Ben Honeycutt and wife, Amy of Fuquay-Varina , Jeff Gunter and wife, Page of Kernersville; six grandchildren, Drew, Ethan, Sarah Jane, Brady, David and Layton; one sister, Foy England and husband, John. A family graveside service will be held at Rawls Baptist Church. A Service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Fuquay-Varina Baptist Church with Rev Julian Motley and Rev. Joe Monk officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
