Mrs. Kathryn Jean Braswell Burgess, 60, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. Kathy was born in Cabbaruss Co. on April 18, 1952 to the late Samuel Lee Braswell Jr. and Eugenia Elizabeth Hegler Braswell. She was a member of Union Tabernacle Church and a private duty nurse for over 20 years. Kathy loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She also loved to help people.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Jimmy D. Burgess Sr., a daughter, Melissa Burgess Steading and husband Kerry Todd of Rural Hall, a son, Jimmy D. Burgess Jr. and wife Jane of Pfafftown, four grandchildren, Jessica, Cole, Kathryn and Parker, two great-grandchildren, Haleigh and Grace, a step-sister, Pattie Crews and a very special friend, Belinda Rumfelt.

Funeral service for Mrs. Burgess will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Union Tabernacle Church with Pastor Herbert Mabe officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 -1:30 prior to the service at the church.
