Elmer Mabe, Jr.

Kernersville - Elmer Mabe, Jr., 71, loving husband, father, and ""Pawpaw"" passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Hospice Home of the Piedmont, after a courageous battle with cancer. Elmer was born on March 16, 1945 in Stokes County. Elmer was a Veteran of the US Army and retired from Roadway Express.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Mabe, Sr. and stepmother, Leva Mabe; and his step brother, Billy Martin.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Rothrock Mabe; a daughter, Jennifer Bell (Craig); two grandchildren, Dillon Bell of Germanton and Cole Bell of Kernersville; one sister, Bernice Hull of Thomasville; one step brother, Donnie Martin of Kernersville; 16 nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Bunker Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. David Rorie officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 2:45 p.m. prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be made to Bunker Hill UMC - Bethany Fund, 1510 Bunker Hill Rd, Kernersville, NC 27284 or Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr, High Point, NC 27262.
