Mr. Herman Wilburn Leamon, 90, passed away at his residence on March 9, 2019. He was born on September 9, 1928 to Myrtle Hartness Leamon and James Hillery Leamon in Yadkin County. Herman served in the National Guard Reserves and retired from R.J. Reynolds. A member of First Baptist Church in King, he loved the Lord, served in prison ministry, and easily shared his testimony. Herman enjoyed the outdoors, doing yard work and rebuilding tractors; also, dancing to country music. He even took up playing the pedal steel guitar in his later years. More than anything, Herman was a devoted family man. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Leamon; a son, Mark Leamon; brothers, Roy Lee and Larry Leamon; and sister, Mary Elizabeth Willard. Surviving are his loving wife, Sandy Leamon; daughters, Linda Carlsen (Craig) and Cindy Cates (Ken); grandchildren, Jacob Carlsen (Isabel), Casey Cates (Brian), and Logan Jones; great grandchildren, Daniel Carlsen and Sadie Grace Light; and sister-in-law, Jan Leamon. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek with Rev. Tim Austin and Dr. Tommy Pillow officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.
