The pictures on the walls of her home tell the story of a life that was full. With joyful sorrow we announce that Marlana Leonard Clodfelter has passed away and is resting with the angels of God. Throughout her life Marlana has graced all of us with her love of life, love of family, and love of travel. She has given us a legacy that will forevermore remind us of pure unconditional love and the beauty of every corner of this country. Marlana was born on December 16, 1933 in Midway Township, Davidson County, North Carolina at the home of her paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Jones Leonard (Mrs. C.H.B.). Her parents were Beecher Carlton and Mozelle Bodenheimer Leonard. She grew up in the Midway Community where she attended Midway School. She was a 4-H Club member, Beta Club member and was in the Methodist Youth Fellowship. She joined Midway Methodist Church as a young girl, and attended R.J Reynolds High School. She earned a B.S. Degree in Special Education from Greensboro College which led to her career of teaching Special Education in North Carolina Public Schools. On April 10, 1952 James Paul Clodfelter, Jr. and Marlana were married at her parents’ home. They have three sons: Steven Carlton Clodfelter, Danny Paul Clodfelter and Nathan Gilmer Clodfelter. Danny married Susan Williams and they have two children: Daughter, Jennifer Elizabeth who is married to Dr. Brandon Craven (with three young children, Noah, Ava and Asher) and son Daniel James. Nathan is married to Janelle Wiseman. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Midway United Methodist Church with Rev. Chuck Ireson officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church.
