Mrs. ""Grannie"" Margaret Buelin McKenzie, 88, of Mocksville, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the Danby House. She was born March 26, 1925 in Surry County to Roy Ray Buelin and Addie Moore Buelin. Mrs. McKenzie was a member of Smith Grove United Methodist Church where she was very active until declining health. She was retired from Lucent Technologies with over 30 years of service. She was fondly referred to as ""Grannie Margaret"" at the hockey games which she enjoyed so very much. Mrs. McKenzie was a loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bobbie Lee McKenzie. and two sisters Lou Ray Hanks and Jenny Seagraves Surviving are a daughter, Pat Weddle (E.H.) of Mocksville; two grandchildren, Rod Weddle (Megan) of Dallas, TX and Sherri Bowen (Marty) of Winston-Salem; two great grandsons, Cody and Dakota, that affectionately called her ""G.G.""; two sisters, Ann Boger of Roanoke, VA and Kaye Buelin of Elkin; one brother, Ralph Buelin of Winston-Salem and numerous loving nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel of Memories with Wayne Worrell officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family would like to thank the staff at the Danby House for their care and compassion.
