Mr. Adrian Matthews Adams, who loved his God, wife, family and friends died Tuesday morning, December 18, 2018 surrounded by his loving wife and daughters.  He was born July 24, 1928 in Surry County to his late parents, Roy F. Adams and Myrtle Matthews Bennett Adams.  Adrian served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1947.  He was a graduate of Draughon’s Business College.  Adrian worked with Burrough’s Corporation until retirement in 1979 after 29 years of service.  He then worked with Workman’s Federal Bank and retired from there in 1989.  As a member of First Baptist Church of Stanleyville since 1951, and a devout Christian, he served as Deacon, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, and an active member of several church committees.  He also served his community as Treasurer of the Stanleyville Civics Club for twenty-five years.  He was also a member and served as President of the Forsyth County Lion’s Club.  He was honored by both clubs as Man of the Year.  In his leisure time and when in better health, he loved playing golf, bowling and he loved boating and pulling his children and grandchildren behind his ski boat during many summers.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline A. Inman.  He is survived by his loving wife of seventy years, Dilma Boles Adams; two daughters, Teresa Langdon (Roy) of Garner, NC, and Connie Sabo (Joe), of Rural Hall; three grandchildren, Dr. David Daughtry, Jr. of Trinity, NC, Kevin Daughtry (Leanne) of Four Oaks, NC, and Heather Waldridge (Ashley), of High Point, NC; six great-grandchildren, Tobias, Truett, Silas, and Sean Waldridge, Luke and Thad Daughtry; several nieces and nephews, and a special extended family, Danny, Wanda, Dustin, Chase, and Trey Tuttle.  A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, December 21, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Stanleyville with Rev. Eddie Honeycutt officiating.  Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the church.  Flowers are welcome, and Memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, PO Box 863, Walnut Cove, NC 27052, or First Baptist Church of Stanleyville, 851 Ziglar Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.  Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.  (Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel).
