Aida Esther Perez De Martinez

Mrs. Aida Esther Perez de Martinez, 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. Born on January 27, 1943, in Puerto Rico, Aida was a woman of deep faith, unwavering love, and a heart that always made room for others.

Aida was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She treasured her family above all else, and her greatest joy was found in the people she loved. She had a way of putting others first, often giving of herself without hesitation. She was strong, determined, and a force to be reckoned with when it came to protecting and caring for the people she loved.

She was a woman who embraced life in her own beautiful way. She enjoyed reading and dancing, but most of all, she enjoyed being surrounded by her family. Her love was felt not only in the big moments, but in the countless small acts of kindness, care, encouragement, and sacrifice that defined her life.

Aida’s faith was an important part of who she was. Her favorite Scripture was Psalm 23, a source of comfort and strength throughout her life. Its words now seem to offer a beautiful farewell:

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside still waters; He restores my soul.”

And so we find comfort knowing that the Shepherd she trusted has now led her home, where there is no more suffering, only peace.

Aida was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved brothers, Raymond and Junior Sepulveda.

She leaves behind her devoted husband, Samuel Martinez Torres; her children, Nancy Martinez and Samuel Martinez, both of Kernersville; her grandchildren, Yesenia, Samuel Jr., and Alex; and her cherished great-grandchildren, along with her three sisters, Maria Antonia Negron of Puerto Rico, Norma Sepulveda of Florida, and Maria Delores Negron of New Jersey; her brother, Jose De Jesus Torres Perez; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Aida was more than a grandmother. She was a source of love, strength, wisdom, and unconditional acceptance. The memories she created with them will become part of the legacy she leaves behind—a legacy that will continue through every generation that follows.

Her family will forever remember her laughter, her strength, her faith, her determination, and the enormous love she carried for those around her. Though her physical presence is gone, the love she gave so freely will remain woven into the lives of everyone fortunate enough to have known her.

Aida’s life was a gift, her love was a blessing, and her memory will be cherished fore

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Monday, September 14, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Mr. Mark Mejias officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Gur Cemetery. “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” — Psalm 23:6

May she rest in the loving arms of God, surrounded by eternal peace.

Until we meet again, Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, and beloved wife. You will forever be loved, forever be missed, and forever be in our hearts.
