Alfred Grove Johnson

Mr. Alfred Grove Johnson, 84, passed away on September 22, 2016 at his home. He was born August 14, 1932 in Pittsylvania County, VA to the late Kelly Lee Johnson and Geneva Stowe Johnson. Mr. Johnson was of the Methodist faith. He served in the U.S. Air Force and subsequently served in the U. S. Army Reserves. He founded Johnson's Electronics, Inc. and served as president until his death. He also retired from Western Electric/AT&T with over 30 years of service. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his brothers, Hylton Johnson and Noel Johnson, and a sister, Margaret Marks. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Nancy Jones Johnson; his children, Johnny Kent Johnson (Kenneth G. Lawson), P.R. Johnson (Jennifer J. Weldon), and Benjamin O. Johnson (Michael Bustle); five grandchildren, Spencer C. Johnson, Tyler Reid Johnson, Abigail A. Johnson, Sawyer Johnson-Welden, and Thatcher Johnson-Welden; his sisters and brothers, Delores Nasar (Jack), Gail Blevins (Ed), Nathan Johnson (Hazel), and Roderick Johnson. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Monday, September 26, 2016 at Parklawn Memorial Park in the Chapel of Faith Mausoleum with Pastor Tim Wolfe and the Rev. Sayward Fletcher officiating. Entombment will follow the service. The family will receive friends from 7:00pm until 9:00pm on Sunday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
