Alice Florence Shaw

Kernersville - Alice Florence Wescott Shaw, 83, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Alice was born in Lackawanna County, PA, on February 21, 1934 to Harry and Adella Hartman Wescott. She was a member of Sedge Garden Baptist Church for many years. Alice was a strong prayer warrior for her church, family and friends, a practice developed from her strong faith and love for others. Over the years, she loved sending cards to others to bring comfort and cheer.

In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Roberts Shaw; two sons, Daniel Robert Shaw, III and Dennis Arnold Shaw; and her infant daughter, Donna Marie Shaw;

Surviving are four children, Donald William Shaw (Debbie), Della Joy Herrin (Richard), Dawn Beverly Blackburn (Tim) and Daryl Paul Shaw (Lucinda); daughter-in-law, Beth Roberts Shaw; 20 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and one brother, Donald Wescott.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 19, 2017 at Sedge Garden Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Duncan officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
