Allen Crandell Black died unexpectedly at home on November 5, 2013. He was born June 3, 1931 in Bristol County, MA to the late Walter and Edna Guilford Black. Mr. Black was the senior packaging engineer at Amp, Inc. where he also received credit for a million dollar patent. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed woodworking and loved spending time with his family but most of all his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, wonderful grandfather and friend. Big Al will be missed by all who knew him. Mr. Black is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ann G. Black; two children A. Christopher Black and wife Kimberly, Lynn Black-Mowery and husband Bill; grandchildren Brenden and Grant, step-grandchildren Sarah, William, Catherine; special nephew Edward McCarthy and wife Diana; sister JoAnn Miller as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller, Silas Creek Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
