Allen Wyatt Marshall

Mr. Allen Wyatt Marshall, 76 of Winston-Salem died Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Kindred Care Rehab at Silas Creek Manor. He was born 13 October 1937 in Morehead MN to Fredrick Allen Marshall and Fannie Wyatt Marshall. Allen grew up in and around Faith NC, and joined the U.S. Navy in 1954 and was honorably discharged four years later. After attending King's College in Charlotte he went to work for McLean Trucking Company in Winston-Salem, where he met his wife-to-be, Lillie Jane Mahaffey before changing jobs to work at the Western-Electric Lexington Road plant. Married in 1962, the couple made their lives in Winston-Salem, attending Covenant Presbyterian Church for most of that time. After retiring from what is now AT&T in 1989, Allen ""worked"" at Grubbs Woodworks until an aortic aneurism struck in August of 2013, complications of which eventually ended his life on 13 February 2014. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, James F. Marshall; a half-brother William D. RoberCtson; and a half-sister, Blanche R. Efird. In addition to his wife, Jane Mahaffey Marshall, he is survived by his son, Douglas Allen Marshall, his daughter-in-law, Julie Anne Biskner, and his grandson, Ewan Thomas Marshall, all of Mobile AL, as well as a sister-in-law, Mae Marshall, of Carlisle PA. A Memorial Service will be held at Hayworth Miller Silas Creek Chapel on Tuesday, 18 February at 2:00 with Rev. Gary Safrit and Rev. Burwell J. Shore III presiding. Visitation with the family will follow the service at the same location.
