Allene Lee Rodden, born in Conway, SC, was a resident of Winston-Salem since 1946. She lived in the Ardmore community for almost 60 years. Prior to her retirement, she worked at Thalhimers for 19 years. She was an active volunteer at Salemtowne Retirement Community for 22 years. She was also an active member at Ardmore Moravian Church for more than forty years where she was well known for her lemon pound cakes and chicken pies. She was a woman of deep and abiding faith. She moved to Homestead Hills Retirement Community in 2009 where she made many new friends. She died at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Center on December 7, 2014.
Her parents Dock and Annie Thompkins Lee, her loving husband Hobart Rodden, her brothers DD Lee, Jr., Jesse Lee, J. Archie Lee and Howard Lee and her sister, Ila Mae Welch, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sons Jim (and wife Brenda) and Richard (and wife Marie), a grandson who was the light of her life, Robert Rodden, and sisters Virginia (""Jinx"") Davis, Frances (""Frankie"") Ward and Shirley Burroughs, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Ardmore Moravian Church. The family will receive friends after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Ardmore Moravian Church or Sunnyside Ministries.
