Mr. Allie Clayton “Buck” Darnell, 92, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at his home.
Buck was born in Forsyth County on August 22, 1933, to the late Mr. Roney Roosevelt Darnell and Mrs. Laura DeEtte Vanhoy Darnell James. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, who always enjoyed spending time with his family.
He graduated from Reynolds High School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years as a medical corpsman. After his military service, he was employed by United Airlines in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he worked as a ticket agent until his retirement.
Above all, Buck’s faith in his Lord and Savior was the foundation in his life. He was a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he participated in numerous mission trips and was a member of the Michael Friel Bible Fellowship Class. Buck found great joy in golfing and traveling, and he had a remarkable talent for repairing and restoring things. His enduring legacy of love and his devotion to his faith will be deeply missed.
In addition to his parents, Buck was preceded in passing by his loving wife, Tina Lou Snow Darnell; daughter, Bonnie Felk, and his two siblings, Helen Hurst and Mary Wood.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Vickie Darnell; two grandchildren, Stephen Felk (Ashlee) and Olivia Felk; son-in-law, Michael Felk; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, beginning at 2:00pm, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Truett Williams officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Winston-Salem, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
