Alma Tesh Hege

LEXINGTON, NC--Alma Kathryn Tesh Hege, age 94, of Community Rd., Lexington, NC passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 13, 2014 in Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born November 7, 1919 in Davidson County to Fred W. Tesh and Lettie Evans Tesh. She grew up surrounded by relatives in the Arcadia community. Her husband, John Wesley Hege, preceded her in death on April 12, 1971. Together, they owned Hege Motors. After his death, their son, Fred Wesley Hege, and later their grandson, Todd Wesley Leonard, continued the business. Alma Kathryn worked with them in the family business into her 90th year. As long as her health permitted, she was an active, life-long member of Enterprise Moravian Church where she was a pianist, treasurer of the Women's Fellowship, and taught children's Sunday School. She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her sister, Elaine Tesh Nifong, and two sister-in-laws, Earsley Hege Mendenhall and Eva Mae Hege Stewart. Surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth (Libby) Hege Leonard; a son, Fred Wesley Hege and wife Rene; four grandchildren: Dr. David C. Leonard and wife Susan of Durham, NC; Todd W. Leonard and wife Tammy of Oak Island, NC; Anna Kathryn Hege of Winston-Salem, NC; and Holly Ruth Hege of Arcadia, NC; two great-grandchildren: Sarah Elizabeth Leonard and Kathryn (Katie) Rachel Leonard of Durham, NC; also, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 15th at 11:00 am at Enterprise Moravian Church with Rev. Arkon Stewart officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church graveyard.
