Amanda Gayle Pope

Amanda Gayle Craven Pope, age 40 of Mocksville, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, October 14, 2025. She was born July 30, 1985 in Guilford County to Robin West Reid and Timothy Earl Craven. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Elizabeth (“Cricket”) West; paternal grandparents, Betty Jo and Gale Vance Craven; and her beloved Jack Russell, P’Nut.

Amanda is survived by her mother, Robin West Reid (Blake); her brother, Dustin Craven (Kelsey); her maternal grandfather, Donald (Don) West; her husband, Keith Richard Pope; her father, Timothy Earl Craven (Debbie); numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A beautiful person, kind soul, poet (who didn’t know it), ballerina through her school years, artist, great cook, lover of all animals, and above all, a full head of strawberry blond hair (don’t call her a redhead) that matched her Scotch/Irish background and the quick temper that went with it. Even so, she never failed to forgive and shared love with abundance.

Abiding by Amanda’s wishes there will be no formal service or visitation. At a later time, her mother and brother will scatter her ashes privately at her “happy place” where she always felt closest to God.

Following is an excerpt from Rays of Light, an original poem Amanda wrote and shared at her grandmothers passing in 2016, and now we share those written words for her:

Your rays of light stream down across my face,

And my whole world is turned into a better place.

Beautiful and perfect they always seem to be,

Shining down from heaven directly on me.

Through all the years they have been there in space,

Rays of light, streaming down on my face.

May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face and rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand. (Irish Blessing)

Amanda, you are loved always and will be missed!
