Amy Killian Wilson, 52, of Kernersville passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Wake Forest Baptist Health. She was born to Jane Earley Killian and the late Bobby Earl Killian on June 10, 1972, in Haywood County, NC.
Amy lived in Kernersville for most of her life, but she was at home in the mountains. After her youth in the Blue Ridge, she went on to Appalachian State University where she met her husband of 32 years. The family took many weekend trips there and she taught them to make the mountains their second home.
Amy was a dedicated teacher for over 17 years in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System. During that time she impacted the lives of over 500 students, not to mention their families, and all of her coworkers.
Amy was a voracious reader. She read a book a day while sitting on the back porch (her favorite place to be, especially if it was raining) during summer vacation. Reading was a hobby that she instilled in both of her children, and before she passed, she gifted dozens of books to her grandson, each with a handwritten note about what she hoped he would learn in the book.
Amy was the epitome of humility. You could always find her at home with her dog Toasty as her shadow, sports on the TV, and a fresh pot of sweet tea in the fridge.
Amy was sick for a long time. If you knew that, you know that she didn’t want to talk about it. She would rather hear about what you had going on instead. If you didn’t know that — exactly. And while we miss her greatly, we have great peace knowing that she is no longer sick and at home with her Savior. We can't wait until we see her again, and can hear all about what she has going on.
Amy is survived by her loving husband, Jonathan Wilson; children, Matthew Wilson (Elizabeth), and Carrie Paige Wilson; grandchildren, Levi Wilson; mother, Jane Killian; and brother, Michael Killian (Lydia).
The family will receive friends from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Monday, June 2, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. Officiating the service is Pastor Rob Decker. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory.
