Angeline Lea Mitchell

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Angeline Lea Mitchell, departed this life on October 2, 2026, transitioning from her earthly home to her eternal home in Heaven. Her passing marks the peaceful return of one of the most beautiful souls ever to grace this Earth- a woman whose love, compassion and gentle spirit touched everyone blessed enough to know her.

Angeline is survived by her loving husband, who has been by her side for 44 years, Henry Carmichael “Mike” Mitchell; her children, Kevin Frazier (Wanda) of Richmond Hill, GA, Wendy Frazier of Austell, GA and Wanda Kellyman (Christopher) of Greensboro, NC, her two step-daughters, Toni Mitchell and Phyllis Hughes (Ronnie) both of Madison, NC; her grandchildren, DeVante, Carlos, Chris (Mildred), RaShawn, DeAndria, DeMorris, Tia and Darius; her only great-grandchild, Kanoa; and all of her loving nieces and extended family, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

Born in Danville, Virginia, Angeline was a cherished daughter of Howard Lea, Sr. and Mary K. Lea, who preceded her into Heaven. She was the youngest of five children and the last remaining member of her immediate family, now reunited with her sisters, Joan Cousins, Miriam Shaw and her brothers, Howard Lea, Jr. and Wilburn Lea.

Angeline devoted her life to Christ and was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church throughout her entire life. Her faith guided her steps, shaped her character and strengthened her spirit. She lived out her beliefs through kindness, service and a heart that welcomed everyone with warmth and grace.

Angeline was a proud graduate of Winston-Salem State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She went on to devote 32 years to teaching in the Stokes County School District, shaping the lives of countless 2nd and 3rd graders. Teaching was not simply her profession, it was her calling, her ministry and her joy. She poured her heart into every child who called her “Mrs. Mitchell,” and she delighted in watching her students grow into adults, parents and leaders of the next generation.

Funeral service celebrating Angeline’s life will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home Chapel in Rural Hall, NC. Entombment will follow in Gardens of Memory Mausoleum in Walkertown, NC. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until the time of service at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home.

Although we mourn today, our hearts are lifted by the love she poured into every part of her life, a love that remains with her husband, her children, her family, and every person fortunate enough to love her as she loved them. Her life was a testament to kindness, sacrifice and unwavering devotion. In our grief, we hold tightly to the gift of her presence, the lessons she taught and the warmth she gave so freely. We carry her in our hearts, and we will forever cherish the love she left with us.
