Anita Christine Strader Knott

Anita Christine Strader Knott passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Kerner Ridge Assisted Living, Kernersville, NC. Born on June 13, 1935 to L. E. and Irene Alley Strader, she graduated from Rural Hall High School and went on to graduate from the nursing school of City Hospital in Winston-Salem. She will long be remembered for her scholarly approach to life. She was one of the top spellers in 1949 at the National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. She was the top female speller finishing fourth overall. In addition to her parents, Anita was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Eugene Knott, in 2003. She is survived by her two children, Melissa Christine Cammarasana of Yardley, PA and David Wayne Knott of Palmyra, NJ; her brother, David Strader (Gloria) of Belews Creek, NC and her sister, Patricia Myers (Bruce) of Hershey, PA; also, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Anita's devotion to her family was emphasized by her great love for her granddaughter, Juliet Christine Cammarasana, who lives in Yardley, PA. A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, Donation Processing, P. O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014.
