Eleanor Ann Scott Boyd, 79, of Winston-Salem, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, August 16, 2018. She was born in Mecklenburg County on April 25, 1939, to the late William Elmer Scott and Ella Latimer Scott.
Ann was a remarkable woman who managed to raise a family and maintain a full-time nursing career while supporting her husband as a minister's wife throughout North Carolina and Georgia. None of these were easy tasks, and yet she fulfilled each with determination and grace. She will be remembered not only as a caregiver, both to family members and numerous patients, but also as a symbol of strength, resilience, and understanding.
Preceding her in death are her parents and husband, Rev. Jasper Boyd. Surviving are two sons, Vann Alan Boyd (his wife Caroline) of Asheville and James Scott Boyd of Greensboro; three grandchildren, Christy Boyd Hendley (her husband Lynn) of Kannapolis, Alec Brooks Boyd and Taylor Scott Boyd of Asheville; a great-grandchild, Carter Klein Hendley; a sister, June Scott Wooten (her husband Charles); and two nephews, William Bryant Wooten and Robert Jeffrey Wooten.
A funeral service will be conducted in her honor 12:00 PM Monday, August 20, 2018, at Sharon United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Greg Freeman. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to either Sharon United Methodist Church, 5330 Sharon Church Road, Lewisville, NC 27023, or Redeemer Presbyterian Church, 1046 Miller Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
