Mrs. Anna Vasica Ponjican, 68, of Winston-Salem passed away 18, July, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center. Anna was born in the village of Padina in the Former Yugoslavia to the late Marci and Suzana Sajben Vasica on May 20, 1950. At a young age, Anna escaped with her family from communist oppression into a refugee camp in Italy. God made a way to immigrate to the United States where Anna enjoyed a life of blessings, surrounded by a crowd of family and loved ones who were nourished by her loving, kind and nurturing spirit. Along with her parents she was preceded by a brother, Palo Vasica. Anna is survived by her husband of 46 years, Jano Ponjican; daughter, Kathy Menzies; sons, Sam Ponjican (Kim); Dan Ponjican (Christie) and Tim Ponjican; grandchildren, Tyler and Julianna Menzies; Faith, Brentley and Addie Ponjican; brothers, Martin Vasica; Jano Vasica (Milanka); Mike Vasica; Andrej Vasica (Eva); sister, Suzana Todorovic. A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 1:00pm at Heavenview United Pentecostal Church with Pastor Harold Linder officiating. Family will receive friends on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Online condolences may be sent at www.hayworth-miller.com.
