Annie Anderson

Annie Mae Waddell Anderson, 84, entered into the more immediate presence of her Lord and Savior, Tuesday morning, October 23, 2018 after an extended stay at Trellis Supportive Care, Kate B. Reynolds Home.  Annie was born on April 9, 1934 in Wilkes County to the late Millard and Alda Blackburn Waddell.  Annie is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, James Anderson; daughter, Sandra Madison (Rick); sister, Earline Cottle (Carey); brother, E.J. Waddell (Judy) and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Annie was preceded in death by her step-mother, Lucille Harris Waddell; sister, Naomi Waddell Lewis; and half-brother, Samuel Harris.  Anne was a member of Freedom Baptist Church.  Annie was always faithful to serve her Lord, first at Vienna Baptist Church working in the nursery and with children and later in the nursing home ministry.  In 1989, Annie received an award for “Adult Care Volunteer of the Year” by the North Carolina Facilities Association (NCHCF), for volunteering at Silas Creek Manor Nursing Home.  Her interest in volunteer work for the elderly grew from her Sunday visits to the nursing home where she and James had worked as volunteers and conducted worship services.  For their dedicated service, James and Annie were presented an award for “Faithful Service to the Sunday School Class of Silas Creek Manor” for 20 years of service.  Annie was an avid gardener, growing beautiful flowers and vegetables.  She would often have “tomato sandwich parties” at the nursing home.  Annie loved crafting and was a talented seamstress, making dresses and suits for her daughter and many friends.  She made hundreds of heart pillows for the residents of the nursing home, sharing God’s love.  Family will receive friends at Freedom Baptist Church in Rural Hall from 1:00-1:45pm on Thursday, October 25 with a funeral service to follow at 2pm, Pastor John White officiating.  Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall.  Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.  (Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall)
