Mrs. Annie Laura Heath Nelson, 89, slipped into the arms of Jesus, whom she loved so dearly, on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Stokes County on May 4, 1934, the daughter of the late Charlie Edgar Heath and Lucy Lillian Ashby Heath. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend, who will be missed deeply by all who knew her. Mrs. Nelson loved flowers, watching the birds in her yard, and working in her gardens. She was a seamstress all of her life, making clothes and blankets for her family and many others. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Doss Hassell Nelson; a daughter, Sherry Ann Nelson; and four brothers, Frank Heath, Monroe Heath, Robert Heath, and Billy Heath. She is survived by her three sons, Gary Nelson (Cathy), Eddie Nelson (Mistie) and Ricky Nelson (Susan); seven grandchildren, Tonya Forrest (Dale), Stacy Nelson (William), Misty Spencer (Russell), Lee Nelson, Michael White (Tricia), Summer Nelson, and Beth Myers (Josh); 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and one that would be here in August; one sister, Kathy Heath Atkins (Jimmy); and one brother, Wilson Heath (Carolyn). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2024, at Peniel Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Tim Nelson and Rev. Gray Cook officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 Sunday evening at Peniel Pentecostal Church, 3239 Rosebud Rd., Walnut Cove, NC 27052. The family would like to send a special thank you to Kathy and Jimmy Atkins, Darryl and Faye Heath, Wilson and Carolyn Heath and Arnold and Ann Nelson, for all of the love and support shown throughout the years.
