Annie Parnell Kirby

Mrs. Annie Parnell Kinlaw Kirby passed away on January 4, 2017. She was born March 14, 1926 to Sallie and Clarence Parnell in Lumberton, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Floyd Kinlaw, of Lumberton, and years later, by her husband, A. Howard Kirby, of Fayetteville. Annie graduated from Pembroke State College and worked for a time as a secondary school teacher, and later was involved in the real estate industry for a number of years. She had a keen interest in music and played several instruments. She was involved with the Widows and Widowers Organization in Fayetteville for a number of years. In 2004, she moved to Winston-Salem to be near family members. Mrs. Kirby is survived by her son Gerald Kinlaw and wife, Nancy, of Winston-Salem; granddaughter, Dr. Amy Kinlaw of Lewisville; and two sisters, Clara P. McDaniel of Daytona, FL and Doris P. Cooper of Fayetteville, NC. A visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00PM Friday, January 6, 2017, at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel. Her family would like to thank Danny and Linda Newsom and Louella McGee for their care of her in recent years. Her family is grateful to the staff of Brookstone Terrace and the local Hospice personnel for their loving care during the last months of her life.
