Annie Laurie Stoltz “Mama Lar”, 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 4, 2024, holding the hand of the man she loved for 77 years. She was born in Forsyth County on September 25, 1929, the daughter of the late John Columbus Tuttle and Myrtle Mae Tuttle. Mama Lar was an avid gardener, homemaker, seamstress and excellent cook. She married the love of her life in 1947, Harvey Allen Stoltz. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved every child she kept as if they were her own. Mama Lar spent hours growing, canning and freezing vegetables so that each grandchild would have their favorite for holidays. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by twin daughters, who died shortly after birth, Shirley Ann and Sharon Diane, sister, Janie Howell, a granddaughter, Andrea Denise Stoltz. She is survived by her husband of 77 years, Harvey Stoltz; a daughter, Cynthia Stigall (Jesse); a son, Doug Stoltz (Kathy); a sister, Bonnie Taylor (Tommy); grandchildren, Eric Stewart (Stacey), Laurie Barr (Nathaniel), Tessie Stoltz, Kristin Baker (Dusty), and Bethany Stoltz; great-grandchildren, Cody Morgan Stewart, Andrew Lee Baker, Weston Douglas Baker, Redding Stoltz Lee, and Kayce Allen Lusk. Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Stanleyville with Rev. Dr. Virgil G. Dwyer, Jr., Rev. Eddie Honeycutt and Rev. Gene Sherrill officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 prior to the service at the church. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Laurie Barr, Debbie Williams, Amanda Parrish and Becky Davis for all of the care shown that allowed Mama Lar and Harvey to stay at home together.
