Arlene Champney

Allie Arlene Ingram Champney “Omie”, 91, of Winston-Salem, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends. 

A memorial service will be held 2pm Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, Silas Creek Chapel with Brother Dwayne Petty officiating. 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. 

Arlene “Omie” was born August 21, 1932, in Richmond County, to Sanders Thomas Ingram and Ida Mae Jolly Ingram. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard (Champ) Champney; three sons, Ronnie, Tommy, and DJ; her daughter, Gwyn; three grandchildren, Joshua, Adrian, and Alex; and a great-grandchild, baby Logan. 

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Melissa Champney, and Annette Medley (Steve); eight grandchildren, Kirk, Shai, Jessica, Sandy, Cassidy, Tommy, Logan and Corey; twelve great grandchildren, Tony, Natalie, Mason, John-Parker, Naomi, Evelyn, Aliyah, Aiden, Axton, Asher, Ansley, and Silas; two great-grandchildren, Uryiah and Alani Naomie. 

Omie was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. She was known for her hospitality and never let anyone she met enter or leave where she was without a hug. She made all feel welcome and always had a home with a crowded table. She was an excellent seamstress, cook, and enjoyed her work at Champney and Company Hair Salon as their receptionist for 35 years. She was a member of the East Kernersville Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and had strong faith and belief in her creator Jehovah God. Her everyday advice was if you don’t listen you will feel! She will be greatly missed.
