Arthur Richard Frauenhofer

Arthur Richard Frauenhofer, 84, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2024. Art was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 22, 1940. He moved to Apex, North Carolina in 1989, settling in Clemmons in 1996. For 6 years he owned and operated Frauenhofer’s Ice Cream and Bakery and was known around Clemmons as “the ice cream guy.” A stranger to no one, Art stayed active in the community after retirement. He enjoyed his mornings at the YMCA, exercising and chatting over coffee with good friends. He was a member of Clemmons Moravian Church and cherished the friendships he made there. He loved vintage cars, classic westerns, and blueberry pancakes. He especially loved spending time with his family; his daughters and grandchildren were his pride and joy.

Art was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Strouse Frauenhofer; his parents, Valentine and Margaret Frauenhofer; a brother, Valentine Frauenhofer; and two sisters, Margaret and Virginia Frauenhofer. He is survived by three daughters, Amy Barton (Dave), Marlise Sage (Paul), and Mary Sandkam (Robert); six grandchildren, Allie, Kyle, and Julia Barton, Morgan and Matthew (Ali) Sage, and Max Sandkam; several beloved nieces and nephews; and countless friends and other loved ones.

A service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Clemmons Moravian Church.
