Avon Ronald Spencer

Walkertown – Mr. Avon Ronald Spencer passed away May 15, 2026, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born January 28, 1942, to the late Oris F. Spencer and Susie Davis Spencer. Avon was a proud member of Gospel Light Baptist Church, where he proudly served as an assistant captain of the ushers. He was an avid coin collector, a lover of animals, taking pictures of old barns, westerns, and people, especially his church family. He was admired and respected by all who knew him. He loved and adored his family, wanting to give them every opportunity possible. They brought more joy to his life than words can describe. Avon was a very kind and “Gentle Man”. He was selfless, faithful, and everyone’s rock. His family considered him their hero. In addition to his parents, Avon was preceded in death by two sisters, Lottie Stevens and Marsha Graton, and his three brothers; Cliff, Phillip, and Carol Spencer.

Left to cherish his memory are; his loving wife, Kathy Spencer; one daughter, Jesse Hopkins; one son, Stephen Hopkins and his wife Heather; three grandchildren, Zoe, Caleb, and Carson; two brothers, Dale and Dana Spencer; many special nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 12:00 PM Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Pastor Fank Shumate and Pastor Bryan Vanderford officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory in Kernersville. The family will receive friends from 11:00– 11:45 am prior to the service at the church.
