Barbara Phlegar Bogart passed away on Wednesday afternoon, February 7, 2024, surrounded by her children. She was born May 22, 1931, in Roanoke, VA. to the late Eugene Vaughn Phlegar and Syble Ware Phlegar. The family moved to Portsmouth, VA when she was 8 years old.
She graduated from Truett McConnell College in Cleveland, GA and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans, LA.
Prior to her marriage she worked in Port Norfolk Baptist Church in Portsmouth and Moffett Memorial Baptist Church in Danville, VA.
She married William H. Bogart, Jr. December 17, 1960, who preceded her in death on November 8, 2011.
Left to celebrate the life and legacy of this most extraordinary woman are her three children: Brenda Hall of Hilliard, OH; Beverly Royals of Kernersville, NC; and Bryan Bogart (wife, Cheri) of West Blocton, AL; three grandchildren Aaron and Michael Bogart and Jordan Hall. She is also survived by her brother Donald Vaughn Phlegar of Kernersville, NC; and two nieces Dianne Fraser of Kernersville, NC; and Cindy Duncan of Lena, MS.
She was an active member of Moffett Memorial Baptist Church in Danville, VA where she organized and headed many church programs until she moved to Oak Ridge, NC in 2008. While in Oak Ridge, she was fortunate to find a new church home in Union Grove Baptist Church. In 2015, she moved to Kernersville, NC to be close to family.

A graveside service for Barbara will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 12, 2024, at Danville Memorial Gardens with Rev. Francis Smith officiating.
In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorial donations be made to Billy Graham Evangelistic Association at 1 Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28201, or https://giving.billygraham.org.
