Barbara May Bowden

Kernersville – Barbara May Bowden, 72, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 1, 2025. She was born on December 30, 1952, in Rockingham County, NC to the late William Calvin and Mary Pete Lucas May. Barbara loved cooking, her animals, and Dr. Pepper, but most of all, she loved her Jesus. She was a faithful member of Smith Grove Baptist Church. Barbara will be missed by so many family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death and reunited with her loving husband, Homer Andrew Bowden; and four brothers, Edward, Wayne, James, and Jesse May.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sister, Shirley May Shelton; mother-in-law, Ruby Bowden; sister-in-law, Carolyn Stafford; nephew, Joshua Stafford (Daesha); and two great nephews, Airman Connor Stafford, and Airman Cole Stafford.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Smith Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Colfax, with Pastor Bruce Freeman officiating. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
