Barbara Ann Hicks Fox

Barbara Ann Hicks Fox, 91 of Clemmons, NC (formerly of Winston-Salem) passed away on March 23, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC.  She was born on November 29, 1932, in Forsyth County, NC to the late J. Marshall Hicks and Clara Lee Dymott Hicks.

She graduated from Mineral Springs High School in 1951.  She worked for Western Electric and then retired from VA Administration in Winston Salem.

On May 23, 1953, she married Robert “Bob” Eugene Fox Sr. and they were married exactly two months shy of 71 years.

She was part owner of B & B Books since 1975 and over the years her and Bob sold numerous books at antique malls in Myrtle Beach, SC and Greensboro, NC.  Her hobbies earlier in the years were camping and bowling.   

She was a member of First Christian Church in Winston Salem where she attended when her health allowed.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by their only child, Robert “Skipper” Eugene Fox Jr., who passed away on December 29, 2023.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Bob Fox; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Fox of Pelhem AL; Brother-in-Law, Donald Lee Fox Sr. (Helen) of Tallahassee, FL; Nieces, Donna Fox, Deborah Fox Buxton, Susan Fox Gracey, and Katrina Fox Hewitt. She is also survived by several special cousins.  

A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at 11am at Forsyth Memorial Park, 3771 Yadkinville Road, Winston Salem with Rev. David Harrison, Jr. officiating. The family will speak to family/friends immediately after the service. The body will lie-in-state at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, 3315 Silas Creek Parkway in Winston Salem on Monday March 25, 2024, from 12pm to 5pm.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Clemmons Village Memory Care for their loving care of Barbara over the past years. Also, to Forsyth Medical Center Palliative Care Unit and Trellis Supportive Care.
