Barbara Jean Davis

Barbara Jean Davis passed away on April 1, 2024, in Winston-Salem, NC. She was 93 years old. She was born in Tucson, Arizona to Dr. and Mrs. Edward J. Gotthelf, Jr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Col. Edward J. Gotthelf, III, US Army (ret.), and her loving husband of 49 years, Brig. Gen. Donald M. Davis USAF (ret.).

In her younger years, she loved to fish and hunt with her husband. She was proud to be a military wife, even with all of the separations. She and her husband, Don, were grateful they could travel all over the world with their children. She made every assignment a new adventure and a new place to call home. After retirement, they settled in Cape Carteret, NC, where she became an avid golfer. After her husband's death, she moved to Winston-Salem to be closer to family.

Surviving are a son, Daniel M. Davis (Patricia), and daughters, Catherine L. O'Connor (Neil) and Elizabeth D. Stuart. She was proud to have five grandsons, Ben (Lindsay) and Zachary Davis, Samuel (Morgan), William (Claire), and John (Ellen) Stuart; and their father, Dr. S. Pat Stuart; as well as four great-grandchildren, Hayes, Natalie, Luke, and Frances Stuart.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Arbor Acres United Methodist Retirement Community for their compassion in caring for her. Burial will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery with her husband. A graveside service will be held at that time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Arbor Acres' Resident Employee Christmas Bonus Campaign.
