Mrs. Barbara Jean Mabe Lewis, 82, passed away December 31, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born March 1, 1934 in Rockingham County to the late William Henry Cox and Fairy Frances Martin. Mrs. Lewis was a member of Lexwin Baptist Church. She was employed by Keith-Lowery Furniture Company for 14 years and retired from Integon Insurance Company in 1999. She was a devoted Christian and loved her family above all else. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Eugene Lewis and her sister, Doris Howell. Mrs. Lewis is survived by her four children, Eddie Lewis (JoAnn), David Lewis (Betty), Annette Kelley (Mike), and John Lewis; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a sister, Christine Huffman; a brother, Jim Mabe. She is also survived by several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Danny Hauser and the Rev. Eric Goff officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Lexwin Baptist Church, 100 Wainwright St., Winston-Salem, NC 27107 immediately following the graveside service. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm until 2:00pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
