Barbara Mathis Brandt

Walkertown – Mrs. Barbara Mathis Brandt, 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, July 19, 2024 at Piney Grove Health and Rehab. She was born in Forsyth County on July 12, 1943, to Robert Lee and Ruby Sutphin Mathis, Sr. Barbara loved plants and flowers as well as her dogs. She also enjoyed cross stitching and was a blue ribbon winner in her craft. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by two siblings, Robert Mathis, Jr. and Peggy Thomas.

She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, John Brandt; three children, Susan Royall (husband, Roger), Timothy Crater (wife, April), and Richie Crater (wife, Dawn); six grandchildren, Seth, Shain, Joshua, Aaron, Katherine, and Leah; and several great grandchildren.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Well Care Hospice for their care for Barbara. 

There will be no formal services at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be mad to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 381, The Alzheimer’s Association at 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601or to The Shriner’s Hospital at 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
