Barbara Nichols

Mrs. Barbara C. Nichols, 85, of Winston-Salem, passed away on September 20, 2017, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Forsyth County on September 25, 1931, to Carl and Edith Kinney Castevens. She was known to everyone in the neighborhood as "Mom" and was famous for her cooking and holiday decorations. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles M. Nichols; son, Timmy and grandson, Charlie Nichols; a daughter, Kaye Voglar. She is survived by her children, Jenny Long and husband Gary, Susan Nichols, Kenny Nichols and Mike Nichols; Seven grandchildren, Brian Nichols and wife Christen, Holly Dotson and husband Larry, Candy Willman and husband Mark, Nicky Allen, Kenny Nichols, Jr., Michael and Steven Long; Eleven great grandchildren; Kenneth and Sharon Willman, Aubree and Ella Dotson, Brett and Chase Nichols, Hope Nichols, Scotti, Zach, Jake and Luke Long; great-great grandchildren, Logan Sawyer, Austin, Sara and Hanna Allen; Three special daughter-in-laws, Cathy Nichols Faust, Janet Nichols and Debbie Frye. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Barbara C. Nichols Fund, in care of Susan Nichols, 2008 Bertha Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
