Mrs. Barbara Jean Kiser Priddy, 77, passed away Monday, September 25, 2017 at her residence. She was born in Stokes County on October 29, 1939 to the late Etta Maybelle Pulliam Kiser and Oliver Weldon "Hambone" Kiser. Mrs. Priddy graduated in May 1958 from King High School. She retired from R. J. Reynolds in 1992. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where she played piano and sang in a group. Mrs. Priddy and her husband were avid antique collectors and traveled up and down the East Coast. She waged a courageous and determined 40 year battle with multiple sclerosis. She fought every day to retain her dignity and independence. Mrs. Priddy is survived by her husband of 51 years, Carlos Ray Priddy; two children, Robin Smith (Mickey) and Chris Priddy (Margaret); three grandchildren: Griffin Smith, Emma Priddy, and Henry Priddy; one sister, Marguerite "Brownie" Duggins; also, several cousins. A funeral service will be conducted 3:00 P.M. Saturday, September 30, 2017, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Pastor Dan Wackerhagen officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in King. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. The family would like to thank Dr. David Meyer who was a dear friend and physician for over 30 years.
