Barbara Wilbur Tilton

Barbara Tilton, of Bermuda Run, North Carolina, passed away November 19, 2013 following a long illness, with family by her side. She was born to Bill and Nancy Wilbur in Beckley, WV on September 13, 1950. Barbara was a 1968 Graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley and attended Beckley College. Following Flight Attendant Training in Kansas City, MO, Barbara became a Flight Attendant for Piedmont Airlines. She was very active in the Bermuda Run Community especially in the fundraising activities and support of the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston Salem, NC. She was also active the Bermuda Run 9 Hole Ladies Golf Association, of which she was a past president. Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Captain Brooks B. Tilton, and her parents, Bill and Nancy Wilbur. She is survived by children Sabrina (Beau) Brown of Fayetteville, GA and Brooks (Gina) Tilton, Jr. of Peachtree City, GA, grandchildren Austin, Taylor, Hunter and Raven, as well as brother Paul (Kathie) Wilbur of Summerville, SC and sister Sandy (Roger) Sprinkle of Holly Springs, NC. She will also be missed by her very dear friends in the community, especially those that have been involved in the Bermuda Run Golf and Tennis Classic, which Barbara was instrumental in starting. Per her wishes, her remains have been cremated. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 23, 2013 from 2 to 4 PM at Hayworth Miller Kinderton Chapel, 108 E. Kinderton Way, Advance, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be considered for the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
