Barbara "Ann" Widener

Barbara “Ann” Widener, 69, of Winston-Salem, entered into the arms of her Lord and Savior on April 24, 2025, at her home, surrounded by family and love.

Ann was born December 8, 1955, in Winston-Salem to the late Earl and Louella Davis. She lived her life rooted in faith, kindness, and service, embodying Christ’s love to all who knew her. Ann’s life was a beautiful reflection of Psalm 91:11 — “For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.” She blessed everyone she encountered with her warm spirit, encouraging heart, and unwavering faith.

In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by many loved ones who welcomed her into Heaven’s embrace.

She was a devoted wife to her husband of 48 years, Dewey Widener Jr., and a loving mother to her daughter, Julie Lewis (husband, James Lewis). Ann found great joy in her role as “Mamaw” to her two granddaughters, Phoebe Gravely (Christian Vanderburg) and Chloe Snow (Weston Snow). In addition to her immediate family, she will be greatly missed by her sister, Marie Kiger (husband, Wayne Kiger); niece, Kim Pepper (David Pepper); and nephews, Chris Kiger (Angie Kiger), and Keith Kiger (Amanda Kiger).

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Truett Williams officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Burial will immediately follow the service at Westlawn Gardens of Memory.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the North Tower 9th Floor staff at Forsyth Hospital, Trellis of Winston-Salem, and Nurse Mindy for their compassionate care.

Memorial contributions may be made in Ann’s honor to Samaritan’s Purse North Carolina Disaster Relief, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
