Ben Ray Bost, 99, passed away on August 31, 2025, at his home in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born in Statesville, NC, to the late Joseph Rowan Bost and Elizabeth Madison Bost. He served in the US Navy during World War II.
Ben was a man of strong Christian faith and character. He served God, family, and country all his life. He worked for most of his adult life as a masonry contractor with Bost Brothers Builders and later with Forsyth County Schools. His lifelong desire to be a missionary was fulfilled in his retirement as he did many mission trips, doing building projects such as churches and schools. He served for many years as a deacon and small group leader at First Assembly of God and later as a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Ben was devoted to his late wife, Peggy Earnhardt Bost, for 74 years. He is survived by his brother, Johnny Cress Bost; four children, Lavonna Cockerham (Larry), John Bost (LaDonna), Toby Bost (Becky) and Cecil Bost (Linda); grandchildren, Christina Lewis, Summer Jackson (Chris), Evan Cockerham (Adrienne), Terri Moy (Alex), Brandon Bost (Lauren); and great-grandchildren, Nathan Lewis, Joseph Lewis, Kailey Moy, Micah Bost, Sophia Bost, Harmony Bost, Ben Cockerham, Ellie Cockerham, John Jackson and Caroline Jackson. Ben’s greatest goal in life was to lovingly serve God, and that all of his family would know and serve the Lord. His favorite scripture was Psalm 91, which he prayed over his family every day.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, September 4, 2025, at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 998 Hutton St, Winston-Salem, NC 27101 by Pastor Tres Ward. A burial will follow the service at 2:00 pm at Parklawn Memorial Park, 2730 Peters Creek Pkwy, Winston-Salem, NC 27127. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Memorial gifts may be sent to Prayer Warriors for US Soldiers c/o Hope Farms, 3647 Sheppard Hill Road, Kernersville, NC 27284.
