Benjamin Coffield Crawford, age 93, of Lewisville passed away peacefully Monday, February 9th, 2015 at Bermuda Village.

Mr. Crawford was born August 6, 1921 in Lexington, North Carolina, the son of the late Bessie Sherrill and Benjamin Coffield Crawford, Sr.

He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving as a 1st Lieutenant in the Pacific during World War II. He was married to ""Billie"" Conrad for 63 years and often said that marrying her was the ""best decision I ever made."" He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Commerce and also received a Graduate Certificate in Sales and Marketing from Syracuse University. Mr. Crawford retired in 1985 from Louisville Cement Company after 35 years of service. He retired as Vice President of Sales in Package Products.

After retirement, Mr. Crawford and his wife, Billie, returned home to Lewisville where he became a very active member of the community, although he considered himself to be ""just a normal tax paying citizen."" Mr. Crawford was a member of Lewisville United Methodist Church where he served with the Methodist Men, on the Staff Parish Committee, Cemetery committee, and as a Sunday School Teacher. Within the community, Ben served as a member of the Lewisville Civic Club, Charter Member of the Recycling Committee with 19 years of service, and Charter Member of the American Legion Post #522. Mr. Crawford was committed to honoring those who served and was instrumental in creating the vision and completion of the Veteran's Monument in Lewisville Square. Mr. Crawford was an avid golfer and spent many years as a Volunteer at Tanglewood Golf Course as well as at the Vantage Golf Tournament. In 2010 he received the ""I'm One of the Reasons Lewisville is a Great Place to Live"" Award. He was also very honored to serve as the Grand Marshall of the Lewisville Civic Club Christmas Parade.

Preceding him in death was his beloved wife Sybilla Mae Conrad; brother Bill Crawford; sisters Marie Jordan, Chloe Underwood and Josephine Collins. He is survived by his daughters; Cheryl Conrad Cassel and husband Michael Cassel of Advance, Cindra (Cyndi) Caldwell and husband David Caldwell of Mooresville, Daughter Christina (Chrys) Kub of Charlotte; grandchildren, Stephen Michael Cassel, Benjamin Scot Cassel and wife Courtney Beamon Cassel, Kendall Caldwell Gavalas and husband Nic Gavalas, Seth Crawford Caldwell, Kelsey Nicole Kub and James Benjamin Kub.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, February 12th, at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 13th, at Lewisville United Methodist Church with Dr. Ivan Peden and Mr. Mike Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family wishes to express appreciation to the entire staff of Bermuda Village Retirement Community for their loving care of Mr. Crawford.
