Bernice Bergstrom MacFarland

Mrs. Bernice Bergstrom MacFarland, 95, of Winston-Salem, passed away Friday, May 4, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born February 6, 1917 in Minneapolis, MN to Walter and Bessie Cochran Bergstrom. Mrs. MacFarland was of the Lutheran faith and was retired from Wachovia International Department with 20 years of service. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. She also enjoyed NASCAR racing but did not pull for Jeff Gordon. She loved going out to eat and shopping. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert MacFarland. Surviving are two sons, Jerry MacFarland and wife Cheryl of Belews Creek, and Jim MacFarland of Winston-Salem; one daughter, Judie Leach and husband Rick of Winston-Salem; and two grandchildren, Jennifer and Taylor. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 7 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
