Bernie Homer Taylor

Mr. Bernie Homer Taylor, 88, of Clemmons was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, February 12, 2016.

Bernie was born July 8, 1927 to Homer Wilson Taylor and Lora Hobson Taylor in Yadkin County. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and retired after 40 years of service with Piedmont Airlines and U.S. Air. In his retirement, he enjoyed tinkering with things around the house. Bernie was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Carrie Ayers Taylor, son, Roger Dale Taylor, sisters, Pauline Hunt and Wilma McBride, and brother, Roger Taylor.

Bernie is survived by his children, Danny Taylor and wife Tamra, Rick Taylor and wife Casey, Randy Taylor and wife Kelly, and Karen James and husband Ray; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Nell Brown and Yvonne Coe; and brothers, Jimmy Taylor and Ron Taylor.

A funeral service for Bernie will be held Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 2 pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Travis Howard officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Clemmons Village II, especially Christy and Cynthia, for their love and care of Bernie over the years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Winston-Salem, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
