Bertha Mclain

KERNERSVILLE – Bertha Lee Siler McLain, 87, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center with her family at her side. Bertha was born October 5, 1931 in Guilford County to Eugene and Mary Johnson Siler.  She was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church, retired from Adams Millis, and resided at her Piney Grove Road residence for over 60 years. Her strong family values and love for her husband, children and grandchildren extended to everyone she met. Bertha never met a stranger and always had an open invitation for anyone that visited to come in and enjoy some of her good cooking. Bertha loved her many trips with her daughters, always looking forward to the next one!

In addition to her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, Frank McLain; a daughter, Marilyn Jane Blaylock; a son, Walter Eugene McLain; and a son-in-law, Ronney Ray Clinard.

Surviving are three daughters, Susie Manuel (Donnie), Bonnie Lawson (Rickey), and Judy Clinard; 7 grandchildren, Alan Clinard (Tammy), Beth Nguyen, Gennifer Blaylock, Matt Lawson (Kristi), Mitchell Lawson, Shannon Denny (Thomas), and Brooke Elam (Chase); 14 great grandchildren; a special niece, Carolyn Horne; and many loving nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Gospel Light Baptist Church (Teen Church) with Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2018 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.  Memorials may be made to Gospel Light Baptist Church, 890 Walkertown Guthrie Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
