Bessie D. Beauchamp, 99, of Winston-Salem, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at TerraBella in Southport, NC. She was born on December 13, 1926, in Forsyth County to the late Connie P. Disher and Connie Smith Disher.
Mrs. Beauchamp was a devoted and active member of Advent Moravian Church, where she loved serving her community. She worked for many years at Davis Department Store and, in earlier years, in the office of R.J. Reynolds. She was a proud graduate of Mineral Springs High School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Olin Ledford Beauchamp; two brothers, C.P. Disher, Jr. (“Jug”) and Charles Wesley Disher (“Hun”); sister-in-law, Doris Foltz; and brother-in-law, Charles Beauchamp.
Left to cherish her loving memory are her three daughters, Monica B. Baxter (Butch) of Oak Island, Beverly B. Cox (Phillip) of Bolivia, and Debbie B. Speas (Darrell) of Bolivia; four grandchildren, Wendi Cardwell, Amanda Piedmont, Ryan Parker, and Meghan Speas; two great-grandchildren, John Piedmont and Grace Piedmont; sisters-in-law, Nancy Norman (Larry) of Thomasville and Martha Beauchamp of Kernersville; and several cherished nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 13, 2026, at Advent Moravian Church with Bob Synder officiating. Mrs. Beauchamp will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Advent Moravian Church, 1514 W. Clemmonsville Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27127, or to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving the family of Mrs. Beauchamp.
